Standing water at the end of a cycle.
Water on the floor or beneath the machine.
Dishes come out dirty or gritty.
No response, a fault code, or a cycle that quits.
Standing water can come from a clogged filter, debris near the drain pump, a kinked or blocked drain hose, a backed-up sink or disposal, or a failed pump. The pump should not be the first assumption, because a clogged filter is far more common and much cheaper to fix.
Do not reach into an exposed pump, take wiring apart, or pour chemical drain cleaner into the dishwasher. If water is leaking near electrical parts, stop using the appliance and avoid touching wet electrical equipment.
Call if the water remains after you clean the filter, the machine repeatedly stops with water inside, the pump hums or grinds, a fault code persists, or it leaks onto the floor. Homes differ in water quality and plumbing layout, and mineral deposits, food debris, and disposal connections can all matter. In rental properties, heavy use can clog filters faster.
